BGWS 025 – Aqua Romana

BGWS 025 – Aqua Romana: "

Aqua Romana is a light strategy tile-laying game about digging aquaducts, cutting off your opponents and avoiding being cut off yourself. (11:01)

This week on Board Games with Scott, I’m taking a look at Aqua Romana. This game is in the tile-laying family, so has a similar feel to Caracassonne, Tsuro, or Streetcar/Linie 1. The big difference is that the type of tile you can play is dictated by large pawns that move around the outside of the field, so there’s a combination of strategy and luck in determining what you get next. It was nominated (but did not win) for the Spiel des Jahres award in Germany for 2006.

If you decide to buy Aqua Romana, please let Rio Grande Games (in the US/Canada) or Queen Games (Europe) know about the impact BGWS had. This does make a difference!
